Wildlife Intrusion
Preventative Measures
Seal Entry Points: Inspect the exterior of your home for any gaps, holes, or cracks that could serve as entry points for wildlife, and seal them with caulk, wire mesh, or steel wool.
Secure Trash Bins: Use tightly sealed and animal-proof trash bins to prevent wildlife from accessing food sources and creating a mess.
Trim Trees and Shrubs: Keep tree branches and shrubbery trimmed away from the exterior of your home to prevent wildlife from using them as pathways to access your roof or siding.
Cover Vents and Chimneys: Install mesh covers or caps on vents, chimneys, and openings to prevent animals from entering your home through these openings.
Store Pet Food Indoors: Keep pet food indoors or in tightly sealed containers to avoid attracting wildlife to your property.
Install Motion-Activated Lights: Install motion-activated lights around the perimeter of your home to deter nocturnal wildlife from approaching.
Remove Bird Feeders: If wildlife, such as squirrels or raccoons, are attracted to your bird feeders, consider removing them or using squirrel-proof feeders.
Clean Up Debris: Remove any debris, such as fallen branches or piles of leaves, from your yard, as they can attract wildlife seeking shelter or nesting materials.
Install Fencing: Use fencing to create barriers around your property, especially if you live in an area with frequent wildlife encounters.
Use Repellents: Consider using wildlife repellents, such as motion-activated sprinklers or chemical deterrents, to discourage animals from entering your property.
